Fuel Cell
Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) are collected from customers by private haulers and transported to the GNHWPCA East Shore Water Pollution Abatement Facility (WPAF). The FOG is then processed at the WPAF by heating it to remove water and using the resulting mixture as fuel for the incineration facility.

The Fuel Cell at this facility is used to generate the heat to process the FOG and also generate electricity. This increases the ability of the GNHWPCA to handle more FOG while lowering our electrical consumption and creating fuel for the incinerator at the WPAF. Overall, the Fuel Cell will reduce our monthly electrical consumption by 190,000 kWh per month.
