Operations Challenge

GNHWPCA’s Operations Challenge Team – The Franken Foggers

What is the Operations Challenge?

Operations Challenge is the “Wastewater Olympics” for professionals in the wastewater treatment industry. Teams of 4 members compete in 5 separate events at a regional level to earn the right to represent New England at the National Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) competition. Ops Challenge is an opportunity for team members to learn a diverse set of skills, – from laboratory, to collections systems, to safety, to pump maintenance, to treatment operations, –  while developing leadership abilities, learning teamwork, and having fun in the process.

The Franken Foggers Compete!

The GNHWPCA Operations Challenge Team, The Franken Foggers, has again been successfully increasing their performance.  This year at the Operations Challenge Event at the 2019 NEWEA Spring Conference in New Hampshire, the GNHWPCA Franken Foggers took second place overall amongst the five teams competing.  The team took first place in Process Control, Maintenance and Safety and a second place in Laboratory.  So the Franken Foggers are going WEFTEC in Chicago this year representing Connecticut and the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA).

Thank you Sponsors!

Thanks to our team sponsors, the Franken Foggers were able to purchase the proper training equipment and finance the team’s trip to WEFTEC.  Along with the support from CWPAA and NEWEA, these sponsors have enabled the team to further our quest to improve our placement at WEFTEC by practicing hard and participating in events to gain more experience. Thank you to our 2019 Sponsors!
