Construction Projects

The Greater New Haven Water Pollution Control Authority (GNHWPCA) funds and maintains a Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to ensure that its sewer systems are reliable, safe and efficient while at the same time contributes to protect the environment. Funding for the CIP is provided through the following sources: GNHWPCA’s annual operating budget, revenue bonds, grant reimbursements and grant/loan programs provided by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Projection (DEP) along with other incidental projects required by state agencies such as the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT.) The project involves implementation of flood proofing measures at four (4) existing coastal pump stations located in East Haven, CT. They include the Farview Avenue, Cosey Beach, Meadow Street and Minor Road Pump Stations. The work includes, but is not limited to, upgrading equipment (electrical, generators and pumps) to be located in a new elevated precast structure above the 500-year flood elevation. The work is being funded, in part, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Program.
