Back

While “Super Storm Sandy” did not reach elevations in earlier predictions, all time extreme water levels were encountered at our coastal facilities.  These facilities were battened down and operated  throughout the storm.   After the storm, on Tuesday, the Authority had ten of its  thirty facilities on emergency generators. As of Friday afternoon only 3 facilities remained on emergency power, all of which are in East Haven. The GNHWPCA will continue to monitor the recovery as operations return to normal.

If you have a Sewer Emergency please call the Authority’s Emergency Number at (203) 466-5260. This line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergencies.  For additional information regarding flooding you can also visit the State of Connecticut’s Department of Health website at www.ct.gov/dph.

In response to the severe weather event forecasted next week GNHWPCA is working to ensure that we are prepared for the impending storm. The Authority has positioned standby equipment at its facilities and is ensuring that fuel, crews, and supplies are standing by.

This storm is predicted to produce a significant amount of rainfall and storm water entering the sewer system may increase the potential for backups. If you have a sewer emergency please call the Authority’s Emergency Number at (203) 466-5260. This line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergencies. The Authority will continue to monitor the storm and issue additional advisories as necessary.
